“Ignore the photo on the back of my card. It looks nothing like me!” Suddenly my focus was now on the home-shot headshot on the back of her card instead of the house we were there to see.
“I’m Tara.” Glancing up I was met with a firm handshake and the same warm smile I saw on her card but she was right, it looked nothing like her.
Stefan and I introduced ourselves as I stepped into the front foyer of the beautiful house on Margaret Ave. It was at the top of our list of favourites.
We followed her around the corner into the open-concept living room and kitchen. A beautiful morning light filled the air casting a golden hue through the space. “This light is gorgeous!! Can you imagine me working here?!” Stefan couldn’t help but smile, seeing my excitement.
“Oh, you work from home? What do you do?”
“I’m a professional photographer!” I said, eyes transfixed on the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a beautiful wooded area.
“You are?! I need to hire you for a new headshot! Do you have a card on you?”
And the rest, as they say, is history!
I recommended Tara and I meet at CIGI in UpTown Waterloo. I had just done some headshots for a student there a few weeks earlier and I thought she’d love the rich wood corridor as a clean but elegant background.
Now she can hand over her business card confident with the image she’s putting forward and keep the focus on the house she’s showing!
